Creating a vision of the future...
We have already celebrated the new millennium and our society asks the institutes of higher education to supply the society with the well-educated human resources. Sungkyunkwan University with its prestigious history dating back more than 600 years has long served such roles of the highest national educational institute, adding Confucian values. To serve our students and society and to prosper in ever changing environment, we set a long-term plan called Vision 2010, whereby our hard work and aspiration would propel Sungkyunkwan University to the uncharted sea of 21st century with an ambition of becoming the stronghold of many fields including Information and Communication Engineering.

Over the past several years the University has established significant achievement, while benefiting from various research projects carried out with industry leaders. Sungkyunkwan University is the oldest Korean University and recently it is growing rapidly in size and quality. In fact, it has been ranked the fourth in Korea according to a recent survey on the number of SCI (Science Citation Index) paper publications. The SungkyunKwan University is officially supported by Samsung Group, the No. 1 Korean conglomerate since 1996. In recent years, we have also established strong alliances with Samsung Electronics to better serve our students.

We will focus our efforts on educating our students in the area of Information and Communication by fully capitalizing our resources of multimedia network infrastructures and facilities and also by inviting distinguished professors with the support from Samsung Business Group.

With thoughtful guidance of the Dean, Professor Dong Ryeol Shin, School of Information and Communication Engineering becomes one of the best schools nationwide with more than 54 outstanding professors. Also, all freshmen are the best graduates in their classes from the high schools nationwide. Believing in the ability and passion of the people of School of Information and Communication Engineering, I boldly predict that they would become the one of the best in the nation and also highly ranked in the world in 10 years. I also thank the administration staffs of the School of Information and Communication Engineering.
